Slovenian Institute for Vocational Education and Training

The Slovenian Institute for Vocational Education and Training (IRSVET) is a public institution founded by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and co-founded by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia and the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia in 1995. In accordance with the basis provided by the Organisation and Financing of Education Act (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, No 12/96), the Institute conducts research, development and consulting.

Role in the project:

IRSVET is responsible for implementation of the field trials in selected school centers (units for adults). It will implement development, monitoring and evaluation of the field trials.

  • developing a model of »one-stop« guidance point in 2 selected school centers
  • development of common professional material for selected target groups of adults in school centers
  • preparation and implementation of a training programme for involved staff (together with SIAE)
  • implementing the tools for validation and recognition of prior learning
  • preparation and implementation of the documentation for monitoring and evaluation (together with SIAE).

It is the central national institution in the field of vocational education and training and is responsible for linking social partners, and provides support in developmental, research, implementing and systemic processes that contribute to the quality of vocational education and training for the citizens of Slovenia in the context of lifelong learning.

The Institute’s main areas of operation are: studying development trends in the labour market and preparation of occupation profiles as well as competently conceived occupational standards; development of methodologies and preparation of module-based educational programmes for pre-secondary and secondary vocational education; monitoring and evaluation of learning and teaching processes; training and improvement of knowledge in teachers and mentors in the framework of vocational and technical education, provision of professional support and counselling to different target groups in the VET system, such as school collectives, headmasters, teachers, other professionals, employers and social partners; permanent education and training of teachers, professionals, mentors, counsellors in vocational and technical education; development of career guidance system.
